Results of the Event in Aid of the Italian Earthquake of Amatrice and Accumoli

Thank you for your participation, your donation or for your support to the event I organised, together with a group of friends, on the 25th September 2016 in aid of the Italian earthquake disaster of Amatrice and Accumoli.

The event raised the magnificent sum of £2106.24 !!!

The event, attended by 118 guests at the Wokingham Masonic Centre, consisted of a Sunday Lunch in which pasta all’Amatriciana, a traditional Italian pasta sauce based on cured pork cheek, pecorino cheese and tomato, originating from the town of Amatrice which has been completely destroyed during the earthquake. It also consisted of Pasta alla Gricia, a tomato-less version of Amatriciana.

The full amount has been sent to “La Via del Sale ONLUS”, a non-profit aid group of about 50 people born and bred in Cittareale, a neighbouring borough of Amatrice and Accumoli.

The members of the group are all driven by a strong feeling of belonging and great love for these lands, and so they are helping the people hit by the Earthquake as much as they can, i.e. providing free barbers and hairstylists every weekend, organising barbecues, and other events to help rebuild the social structure of these lands. However, the largest and most demanding project in which they are involved is certainly the project called “Una casetta per Amatrice”, which means “a small house for Amatrice”: the volunteers are raising donations in order to be able to buy a small house and bring it to those families which have lost everything.

The volunteers have already managed to buy one of these small houses (see pictures), and they hope to be able, thanks also to your donation, to buy another one soon.
