The Minutes of the 23rd Committee meeting held at Sindlesham Court on Thursday 19th May 2016 having been circulated to all of the members and published on the web page. Were proposed as a true record by W Bro Tony Hardiman and seconded by W Bro David Medley and confirmed by the brethren present and signed by the Vice Chairman, W Bro Raymond Head.

There were no matters arising that would not covered by the agenda and updates.

The Past Treasurer, W Bro John Stocker, gave a report of the financial position of BeMBA. The balance at the end of December stands at £15,456.53. Expenditure was £22,170 made up of a donation of £20,000 to the Festival and Widows vouchers (£2,075.00) and admin costs (£95.97). Income was £172.56. Income should start to improve in 2018.

There are no claims in the pipeline so far but Lodge representatives are encouraged to stress this in their reports.

The Secretary, W Bro David Fisher, said that at the present time he had 82 widows listed plus the 3 he had just been told about giving a total of 85 and that he had 3 vouchers that had been returned due to the recipients having died/not delivered. He reported that he now had 36 widows who were able to reply by email and thus save postage on reply envelopes. After some discussion it was proposed by W Bro David Lambton and seconded by W Bro Hugh Ranscombe that we should again send out £25 M&S vouchers to all the widows. This was agreed by those present.

The Secretary said that he had heard of 3 brethren making claims for some assistance that needed to be resolved.
1. A brother needed an operation which would not be authorised by the NHS. The circumstances were fully explained by W Bro Tony Hardiman, After a full discussion it was proposed by W Bro Tony and seconded by W Bro Guy Barlow that a pledge of £500 be made subject to the operation happening. This was unanimously agreed by those present.
2. A brother needed a medical consultation and subsequent treatment which cost £290 which had already been paid out after discussion with the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and others prior to the meeting. It was proposed by W Bro David Medley and seconded by W Bro David Lambton that this decision be ratified. This was unanimously agreed by those present.
3. This involved a brother who needed non-financial assistance which was provided by his Lodge and did not need any further action.

There were no claims at the present time.

The Vice Chairman, W Bro Raymond Head, asked each member if there was any further business. There was none, but he wished to have recorded his thanks to the Secretary, W Bro David Fisher, for his hard work.

The Vice Chairman closed the meeting at 7.55pm with thanks to all for their attendance and interest.

The date of the next meeting is the 18th May 2017.
